There are many companies that have genuine upliftment programmes in place. I think. How many people they uplift we don’t know. How much they uplift and how sustainable the upliftment is, we don’t know.
It is not unreasonable to ask South African franchise companies if they could choose one franchisee a year, who does not pay the franchise royalties for one year. Or award franchise packages to selected, eager, less privileged would-be entrepreneurs for free to get them off the ground – with a time deadline. By then they need to show profit and start contributing to the franchise royalty. There are various creative ways to structure it – with no great loss to the franchise company. This is the essence of “teach a man to fish.”
Not everyone can pay to get going – but once they do get going, they have the potential to participate in a healthy business relationship with the Franchise company or opportunity giver.
A social strategy where everyone wins.
