Bruce Good has launched an original concept called ‘Name Your Hood’. The idea is to create an identity for each neighbourhood in Cape Town, bring communities together and direct people more easily.
In July, the first two ‘hoods’ were named. ‘Little Camissa’, named after the Camissa River which runs below the city, won the vote and is situated between Kloof Nek Road, Camp Street and Bellevue Street. And ‘The Loop’ now describes the area situated between Buitengracht Street and Loop Street.
Local businesses and property agents have already adopted these names and the City of Cape Town will be printing new maps reflecting them.
This month (August), the vote starts for Hood 3, between Somerset Road and Coen Steytler Avenue, and Hood 4, around St George’s Mall. Become a name-activist in your own city. Go to //nameyourhood.co.za/ and Name Your Hood now.
