Grade R’s send out message for Water Week

Every year during March the Department of Water Affairs celebrates National Water Week in South Africa, which also features World Water Day 0n 22 March. This year, the campaign theme is “Water is life, conserve it, respect it, and enjoy it”, which took place from 5-11 March.

Salome Ramokgola who is an early childhood development (ECD) assistant in an Afrika Tikkun school in Alex said, “water plays a huge role in our social and economic development and we (are) trying to encourage our kids and community to change their attitudes towards water usage.”

ECD leaner Kamogelo Maake (5) said, “I use water to bath my body, and my mum cooks food using water so that we don’t die of hunger.

Classmate, Wiseman Ribombo (5) said, “I wash my hands after helping myself in the toilet and to drink. People who waste water, they will die and be dirty because we cannot live without water.”
