Have you ever wanted to tell local leaders what you consider to be the most important issues facing South Africa today? This is your chance.
On Wednesday 18 May 2011, South Africans go to the poles to vote in leaders who promise to address large-scale local challenges. Supernews is inviting you, our Citizen Journalists to interview as many South Africans in the voting line as possible to help us set the news agenda, by asking them the following questions:
1. Suggest which challenges are most in need of innovative solutions. Get specific.
2. Do you have inspiring ideas/concepts to contribute that will help make SA work better? Be specific.
3. If you were president and you could change one thing – what would it be and how would you do it?
4. What are the most interesting and innovative things that are going on where you live? Report on progress happening.
5. What do you think our leaders should be talking about? In other words, what would you like to see on their agenda?
6. If you could open the paper or switch on the TV – what news would you like to know about?
7. How do you think government can work better? And how would you like to engage with them?
8. Your own questions
Although citizens can appeal to their own publicly elected officials, they rarely get to help shape the local conversation. Here’s a rare opportunity for them – through your Super Reports (which you’ll need to post online), to speak their mind – and be heard.
