Holland Water Wall a splash

Thursday saw the launch of the Holland Water Wall erected to raise awareness for water issues during Cape Town’s National Water Week from 21 – 27 March, celebrating the theme ‘For love of Water’.

Deon Bing, the famous Capetonian surfer who brings daily surf reports to local radio listeners, supported the awareness campaign by ‘riding’ the urban wave at the Dutch Consulate on the corner of Strand Street and Buitengracht Street with his surfboard, Brunhilde. Bing was joined by Cape Town Mayor Mr Dan Plato and the Dutch Consul-General in Cape Town, Mr David de Waal to celebrate the launch.

The Holland Water Wall symbolizes the centuries of experience that the Dutch have with water and it’s challenges, the pioneering attitude in finding new workable solutions, and the fact that Holland is always looking for new partnerships.
