0 viewsSea Harvest will donate 10c from every kid’s product purchased to help the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital get a new Surgical Skills Training Centre.
Announcing the Sea Harvest ‘Kids for Kids’ initiative in partnership with The Children’s Hospital Trust, (the Fundraising Arm of the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital), Sea Harvest Sales and Marketing Director, Felix Ratheb, a father himself, acknowledged how important it is for a parent to have access to good medical care for their children.
“The Children’s Hospital Trust is a true example of an organisation that has made a significant difference to so many children’s lives. We wish that the Doctors that are trained in the new surgical skills centre become beacons of hope and bring much joy, health and happiness to hundreds of children not only in South Africa, but worldwide.”
Celebrating National Children’s Day, young patients, ranging from toddlers to teenagers together with their moms and dads were gathered into the Pola Pavolsky lecture Theatre to watch a sneak preview of the musical Annie, and were delighted when actress Julia Holzberg, started singing the famous Tomorrow number , which was followed by ice-cream cones of mashed potatoes and fish fingers, served by celebrity chef, Jenny Morris.
‘‘The Trust is delighted to be a part of Sea Harvest’s fundraising campaign. This wonderful promotion will not only inspire kids to eat good food that they love, but they will be helping sick children treated at the Hospital continue to get the very best medical care,” said Philippa Douglas, Fundraising Manager at the Children’s Hospital Trust.

Start filling your trolleys now by purchasing any kids product from Fish Fingers and Fish Burgers to Fish Cakes and Oven Crisp between November and January 2011, and you will help Sea Harvest donate R250 000.00 towards the Surgical Skills Training Centre.

Annie, the musical will be running from 13 November to 5 December at the Artscape Opera House in Cape Town.
The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital is the only specialist hospital in southern Africa dedicated entirely to children. The Hospital manages 250 000 patient visits annually. 98% are from marginalised communities and a third are under a year old. It is often the only place where Africa’s sickest, most needy children can receive life-saving specialist treatment. Currently there are no endoscopic surgical training centres in sub-Saharan Africa. The Surgical Skills Training Centre will accommodate training of surgeons in minimally invasive surgery, for both adults and paediatric patients.
