The COP17 United Nations Climate Change Conference was officially opened in Durban on Monday, 28th November by President Jacob Zuma, who reiterated the COP17 slogan: “Save Tomorrow Today”.
Sounds a bit hypocritical when SA is building the third largest coal power plant in the world, which will not only be a major contributor to climate change, but because Africa will feel its impact hardest.
How is Africa/South Africa going to ADAPT (instead of REACT) to climate change? – that is the big question.
