Afrika Tikkun launches World Aids Red Ribbon Campaign

Afrika Tikkun in partnership with Crawford College and Sasfin bank launched the World Aids Red Ribbon campaign on Friday at Crawford College in Sandton, Johannesburg. More than 600 Crawford college students, Miss SA Teen and Afrika Tikkun ambassador, Celeste Khumalo, together with Early Childhood Development (ECD) children from the Puthaditjaba Centre, gathered to witness the launch.

Afrika Tikkun, together with its partners are on a mission to break India’s Guinness Book of Records title by creating the longest World Aids ribbon. “Six hundred learners came with 800 t-shirts that they laid out in the shape of the World Aids Ribbon. By the 1^st of December we are going to try to make red ribbon (that is) five times bigger than the one we made today (280m long),” said Afrika Tikkun marketing manager, Amanda Blankfield. After the campaign, the red t-shirts will be handed out to those needing clothes from and beyond the centres.

“I feel very honoured to be part of this initiative and it makes me happy to see lots of people supporting our campaign. Afrika Tikkun cares about those who are infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. Even if you (are) positive, you can still leave a long life, as long as you eat healthily and live a healthy lifestyle, said Miss SA Teen Celeste Khumalo.”
