For the second year running, Cape Town is playing host to the mass march of “undead” walkers, stumbling and screaming at unsuspecting bystanders caught in their wake. Appropriately christened Zombie Walk, this Halloween weekend event is not just for fun, but dually acts as a platform to help raise funds for charity. This year the Lucky Lucy Foundation, which rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes animals, is promoting their cause.
Zombie Walk was conceptualised by Dieter Wambach who planned the original event with 40 friends in 2010. But after a Facebook group was created, it gained momentum to such an extent that extra measures needed to be taken to accommodate the large crowds it attracted.
This year’s event saw over a thousand ‘Zombies’ walking from the Company Gardens to Mitchel’s Pub at the V&A Waterfront. 2012 will be bigger yet, and with your support help create awareness and raise funds for another worthy cause.
