This game is intended to help teach energy concepts in an entertaining fashion. Energy is a very important commodity in our society and one of the topics of highest concern to scientists, the financial world, not to mention society in general. A firm understanding of energy and alternative energy has thus become priceless for sustaining our world and the world’s economy.
This is an energy based odds game. It involves a virtual host who presents 25 boxes from which the player has to select three boxes of his or her choice. Inside each box is a message based on energy, energy sources, markets, alternative energy, energy research, history. Depending on the nature of the message depicted, the contestant will either win or lose a specified amount of money (Moola). For instance if the box contains a message which favours an energy source which does not harm the environment then the player collects an amount of money (Moola) ranging from R1 to R10 000.
The game comes with a highest score tab which publishes the highest reached score for the game. There is also a buy in tab where the player places a deposit to participate in the game show. The display of the game shows the contestant at his desk with the virtual host standing in between the contestant and the boxes. It also shows the contestant’s current balance.
The amount the player collects varies with the level of sophistication of the message presented. The maximum amount the player can get over the course of the game assuming he or she does not run any loses is a total of R30 000. However, over the course of the game the virtual host will give the contestant an option out, either to walk away with what they have or to keep playing in the hope of acquiring more.
The player is given three leverage options playable over any round where he or she can request the virtual host to remove three boxes which are losing. Only one of these can be played over each round. A total of five rounds can be played with each round involving unveiling three boxes; an option play counts as unveiling a box and hence will count to the three moves necessary to complete a round.
The game addresses the concept of energy in a fun and simple way.
