The Western Cape High Court has ordered the City of Cape Town to reinstall 65 toilets in Khayelitsha it had removed in January – that’s 11 months ago – leaving the experience of relieving oneself less than dignified.
Judge Nathan Erasmus has ruled that the toilets be enclosed with temporary corrugated iron and timber structures as an interim solution and even that is not guaranteed.
Supernews is calling on Super architects, engineers, designers and anyone else to come up with a better, more sustainable design solution that will literally flush this saga down the toilet and give these residents a Christmas present of human dignity.
