My solution aims to help solve the educational crisis in South Africa through games that will teach students subjects that are often overlooked. There is so much emphasis on Maths and Science to the detriment of other subjects which are just as relevant, namely, life science, life orientation, business studies, geography, accounting, etc. I believe that it might relieve pressure form students who takes maths and science for the purposes of recognition and these games might even help increase the pass rate in our country.
Most students spend their time on the internet, through their gadgets, and the majority of those students use Mxit as their social interaction platform – so we can use Mxit to teach and educate them too. With the creation of these games, it will give students a huge boost as they will now be able to see the importance of other subjects.
How will it work?
We will have different subjects whereby our game users will have to choose subjects of their choice. Our games will have outcomes and feedback.
- This game will enable students to solve problems that they come across in their subjects;
- They will be able to work on multiple skills and subjects across the curriculum at once;
Benefits:
- The game will allow students to become active participants in discovering new ideas, information and solutions
- The pass rate in our schools will increase
- Game users will be having fun while learning ay the same time because games will give them outcome and feedback.
- Less money will be spent by parents who buy books for their children.
